Definition and Usage

The align attribute specifies the horizontal alignment of the content in a table row.

Note: None of the major browsers handles the “char” value correctly.


Compatibility Notes

The align attribute of <tr> is not supported in HTML5. Use CSS instead.

Syntax

<tr align=”left|right|center|justify|char”>

Attribute Values

Value Description
left Left-align content (default for <td> elements)
right Right-align content
center Center-align content (default for <th> elements)
justify Stretches the lines so that each line has equal width (like in newspapers and magazines)
char Align the content to a specific character
